Job Description

Almost everything an organisation does online passes through a handful of services nobody thinks about until they stop: the web proxy, the mail gateway, the remote access tunnel, DNS. This role owns that layer at second and third line, and represents the security side in the operations centre when something is going wrong.

It suits an engineer who likes the operational edge of security — the part where a misconfigured rule is visible within minutes and the fix has to be right the first time.

What you would be doing

  • Implement and administer cyber security policies, settings and tooling across the estate.
  • Provide second and third line support for secure web proxies, web application firewalls, mail gateways, remote access VPN, DNS and DHCP.
  • Represent the security side routinely in the enterprise operations centre.
  • Support other work centres when the problem crosses a boundary.
  • Troubleshoot to root cause rather than to symptom, and write down what you found.

What you would bring

  • Higher vocational training with four years of relevant experience, or a secondary qualification with six.
  • Real experience implementing and maintaining an enterprise network.
  • Depth across DNS and DHCP, remote access VPN, secure gateways, proxies, firewalls, load balancers, web application firewalls and intrusion detection.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting — the estate is large and the symptoms are rarely where the cause is.
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking, automation and orchestration, and of zero trust networking.
  • Familiarity with IT security frameworks and governance models.

The work is full time on site in Mons.
