Senior Network & Security Automation Engineer

Senior Network Security Engineer | Palo Alto & F5 Automation | Major Dutch Financial Enterprise

A large financial enterprise in the Netherlands is looking for a Senior Network Security Engineer to design, implement and manage its network security landscape, with a strong emphasis on automation and security-by-design. You’ll work hands-on with Palo Alto NGFW & Panorama, F5 BIG-IP and Cisco infrastructure, driving TLS/SSL traffic inspection and advanced threat protection across a complex, regulated environment.

About the role This is a senior, hands-on position combining deep network security engineering with DevSecOps and automation. Palo Alto and Panorama expertise is essential, alongside solid F5 BIG-IP and Cisco experience. The organisation offers a hybrid working model and the opportunity to modernise security operations at enterprise scale.

You will:

• Implement and optimize TLS/SSL traffic inspection and advanced threat protection
• Manage Palo Alto NGFW & Panorama, F5 BIG-IP and Cisco infrastructure
• Develop automation using Python, Ansible, REST APIs, Git and Infrastructure as Code
• Support network segmentation, security policies, incident response, audits and compliance

Who are you?

• 5+ years of experience as a Network Security Engineer / Security Engineer
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Panorama (must-have)
• Experience with F5 BIG-IP and Cisco infrastructure
• Experience with TLS/SSL inspection and advanced threat protection (beyond basic firewall administration)
• Practical experience with Python, Ansible, API integrations, Git and IaC
• Experience working in complex, preferably regulated enterprise environments
• PCNSE, CCNP Security, CCIE Security or F5 certifications are a plus
