Data Protection Officer GDPR

Role Overview

The Data Protection Officer works independently, reports to the highest management level, and exercises the function without a team. The DPO oversees the compliance with the regulations on data protection, supports the organization in internal compliance, and provides advice, recommendations, and follow-up on privacy issues.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include overseeing compliance with the GDPR, advising management and internal services on their obligations regarding data protection, contributing to the elaboration and documentation of a coherent framework of roles, responsibilities, procedures, and reporting on data protection, and reporting on status, risks, and improvement points to the highest management level.

Requirements

• demonstrable thorough knowledge of the GDPR, data protection principles, and related legislation
• sufficient legal affinity to analyze and advise on contractual clauses, processor contracts, and cooperation agreements on data protection
• at least 8 years of experience with the GDPR and related legislation
• at least 5 years of relevant experience in personal data protection
• experience with risk analysis methods, such as DPIA models
• technical knowledge of secure data exchange between government organizations
• experience in directing the development and implementation of policy lines, guidelines, procedures, and control rules on the protection of personal data
• ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and work constructively with diverse stakeholders
• integrity and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information strictly
• strong analytical ability and ability to quickly identify risks
• proactivity, decisiveness, and ability to make complex legislation understandable for non-legal target groups
• at least three references from assignments as an external DPO at large organizations
• ability to master at least one of the two official languages perfectly and express oneself fluently in the other official language
• good knowledge of English is relevant within the function
